BROOKLINE, Mass.- On Monday May 1st, the Wheelock College Athletics Department held their annual Student-Athlete Recognition and Awards Banquet.
The department honored all major student-athlete and team accomplishments throughout the year on the field and in the classroom. Altogether, the department handed out a Coach's Award, Most Improved Award, and Most Valuable Award for each of the 12 teams, announced the 2016-17 male and female student-athlete of the year, and named the new President's Cup winner for the team with the highest overall GPA for the year.
The evening was a well-rounded event that included times to recognize all of the graduating seniors as well as 38 student-athletes who earned athletic awards from the New England Collegiate Conference, 42 student-athletes who were named to NECC All-Academic teams, and 33 student-athletes who made the Dean's List at Wheelock last spring or this fall.
The biggest honorees of the night were Student-Athlete of the Year honorees Nicholas Fenton (East Hartford, Conn.) and Katie Frade (Dartmouth, Mass.), and the women's lacrosse team who took home the President's Cup with a 3.56 GPA for the second year in a row.
