Daniel Hutcherson joins the Wheelock staff following an impressive four-year athletic career at the University of Connecticut. As a freshman, Hutcherson was the Big East high jump champion, clearing 6'11 ¾'' He would go on to earn All Big East honors twice as well as qualify for the NCAA Regional Championship as a junior in 2007. In 2008, Hutcherson ranked 17th in the nation in the triple jump and set the New England Championship meet record with a jump of 51'9 ¼''. He was a member of the Huskies team's that captured the Big East Track & Field Championships in 2004, 2007 and 2008. Hutcherson trained under the guidance of Coach Tommie Campbell Jr. as a 2012 Olympic Trials Qualifier in Men's Triple Jump. A native of Albany, GA, Hutcherson graduated from UConn in 2010 with a BA in Sociology and a double minor in Political Science and African Studies.
