CLAREMONT, Fla. - Wheelock softball opened up day three of the PFX Games in Claremont, Florida with a loss to the College of Saint Elizabeth 13-1.
SAINT ELIZABETH 13, WHEELOCK 1 (5 INNINGS)
Wheelock opened the game with a deep double to left center field by Samantha Leahon (Castleton, N.Y.). Leahon would go 2 for 3 on the morning with another hit in the third inning.
The Wildcats' lone run would come in the bottom of the fourth inning, starting with a single to left field by Rachael Simpson (Littleton, Mass.). Kathy Ochoa (El Paso, Texas) continued the rally with a single to left field that moved Simpson over to second. Simpson would score on a passed ball and an error by the Eagles' catcher.
Ochoa now leads the Wildcats in on-base percentage at .500, reaching base in four out of the five games this season.
FINLANDIA 12, WHEELOCK 1 (5 INNINGS)
The Wildcats dropped the second game of the doubleheader 12-1 in five innings to Finlandia University. Despite the Wildcats reaching base in every inning, they were unable to score more than one run in the game. Dominique DelBene (Peabody, Mass.) led the way for Wheelock going 2 for 2. Leahon added a triple to go 3 for 4 on the day and scored the only run in the game for the Wildcats by scoring on a passed ball in the top of the fifth inning.
