NEW HAVEN, CT – Junior forward Keneisha Milton (Boston, MA) led all players with 11 rebounds and added seven points in the Wheelock College women's basketball team's season debut in a 72-31 loss to host Albertus Magnus College tonight in New Haven, CT. The Wildcats fall to 0-1 on the year, while the Falcons improve to 2-0.
Milton also added a team-high five steals and an assist to her evening. Junior guard Kailah Simon (Norwalk, CT) finished the night with seven points, four rebounds, three assists and a steal for Wheelock, while senior forward Jo Gomes (Boston, MA) chipped in with seven points and a rebound in 19 minutes of play.
Albertus Magnus opened up the contest shooting 54.8% from the floor in the first half and went on a 10-0 run in a span of three minutes to push its advantage to 17 points with six minutes remaining in the half.
The Falcons finished out the frame with a 14-3 run as they went into the break with a 24-point lead.
Bianca Brown (West Haven, CT) scored 12 points as she shot 6-of-8 from the floor, while grabbing a team-best seven rebounds for Albertus Magnus. Lindsay Karle (Wallingford, CT) tallied a game-high 14 points, while Sarah Boudreau (Pascaog, RI) tallied 10 points for the Falcons as she shot 4-of-8 from the free throw line and 3-of-5 from the field. Taylor Jagoe (Milford, CT) recorded a game-high six steals, while Nicole Acerra (East Haven, CT) registered five.
The Wildcats will head to Pennsylvania on Saturday, November 19 for the SWAT Tip-Off Tournament hosted by Swarthmore College, where they will take on Stevens Institute of Technology at 3:00 p.m., while the Falcons head to Pine Manor this weekend for the Boston Invitational Tournament to face Lesley University at 1:00 p.m. on November 19.
