Women's Lacrosse Named by IWLCA to Academic Honor Squad, Place Five on Academic Honor Roll

GRAND LAKE, Colo. -- The Wheelock College women's lacrosse team has been named a 2017 Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Academic Honor Squad. Additionally, the team placed a record five student-athletes to the IWLCA Academic Honor Roll. 

To earn the Honor Squad award, a team must earn a minimum 3.0 GPA for the academic year. Wheelock, posting a 3.54 GPA, is one of 312 schools across all three divisions and the NAIA to earn the distinction. 

Seniors Meghan Lewis (South Berwick, Maine) and Violet Vig (Glastonbury, Conn.) and juniors Rachel Danis (Underhill, Vt.), Katie Frade (Dartmouth, Mass.) and Gaby Haywood (East Longmeadow, Mass.) were all included on the Academic Honor Roll. To be eligible for this award, the student-athlete must be a junior or higher in academic standing and earn a minimum, cumulative GPA of 3.50. 

Women's Lacrosse continues their streak of academic excellence in 2016-17, earning the IWLCA Honor Squad award for the third consective year and winning the Wheelock College President's Cup, awarded to the team with the highest grade point average, for the second year in a row.
