Women's Lacrosse Continues Six Game Conference Win Streak With a Resounding Win Over Newbury College

MEDFORD, Mass. - Wildcats junior Colleen Macdonald (Sandwich, Mass.) scored a game-high seven goals and added five caused turnovers as the Wheelock Wildcats defeated the Newbury Nighthawks 24-2 on Tuesday afternoon in New England Collegiate Conference play.

How It Happened: Freshman Ashley Eppolito (Nashua, N.H.) matched a career-high, scoring five goals in the match. Junior Georgia Schindele (Sparkhill, N.Y.) and sophomore Katelyn Dickson (Dracut, Mass.) each added four goals.

Nighthawks sophomore Angel Ortiz (Topsham, Maine) scored on a free position. Freshman Sophia Kiasi (Yorba Linda, Calif.) scored a goal, her 23rd of the season.

Tied 1-1 in the opening four minutes, the Wildcats scored six straight goals in just over six minutes to take a 7-1 lead.

Kiasi scored for the Nighthawks to make it 7-2, but in the last 17:09, the Wildcats would score nine more goals to lead 16-2 at the half.

In the second, the Wildcats added eight goals en route to the 24-2 victory.

Wildcats senior Erin Sior (Shrewsbury, Mass.) made four saves, improving to 8-3 with the win. Nighthawks sophomore Keely Molloy (Staten Island, N.Y.) falls to 2-10 with the loss in her 11-save effort.

What It Means: The Wildcats moves to 8-3 (6-0 NECC) with the win, while the Nighthawks fall to 2-10 (2-4 NECC).

Up Next: Wheelock faces off with Wentworth on Thursday at 6:00 p.m. before their regular season finale against Elms College on Saturday.
