Wilson's Top Ten Finish Gives Wildcats a Strong Finish

STANDISH, Maine - Christ Genty and Emma Wilson led the way for the Wheelock cross country team in the Runnin' Monks Invitational on Saturday.

How It Happened - Men: The Wildcats had four runners compete in the 8-kilometer race.  Christ Genty (Revere, Mass.) led the way with a 12th place finish in a time of 31:59.6.  Genty's time was his best time of the year and best finishing position for an 8k race.  Mohamed Mohamed (Chelsea, Mass.) and Colin Marie (Danvers, Mass.) finished back to back finishing 26th and 27th respectively.  Mohamed finished with a time of 35:26.3 and Marie finished with a time of 35:55.1.  Matthew Boor (Carlisle, Mass.) rounded out the Wildcats team with a 42nd place finish and a time of 46:50.7.

How It Happened - Women: Junior Emma Wilson (Hallowell, Maine) led the women's team with a 10th place finish and a time of 23:13.4.  This race was Wilson's third top ten finish of the season.  Alexa Tivey (Lowell, Mass.) finished next for the Wildcats with a time of 23:21.1 and a 13th place finish.  Freshman Monica Posada (Revere, Mass.) finished in 32nd place with a time of 27:09.5.  

What It Means: The Wildcats continued to work towards the NECC Championships.  Many of the young runners are looking to improve in the following week as they continue their development.

Up Next: Wheelock will race in Boston next Friday in the Emmanuel College Saints Invitational.  Come celebrate the Wildcats successful season in their final regular season race (4:00 p.m./4:45 p.m.).
